Project Summary

With the current state of technological development, the future of Electric Vehicles (EVs) seems to go through the hybridization of various Energy Storage Systems (ESSs). This strategy seeks to benefit from the best qualities of each available energy source, and is especially useful in urban driving. The main purpose of this project is to design and implement Electric vehicle (EV) power train using hybrid energy storage system. Electric Hybrid Vehicle' is a vehicle which works on electrical power as well as fossil fuel. Hybrid electric vehicles consists of a battery, to drive the electric motor and power system. The speed control of motor drive is used to improve the efficiency of electric vehicle drive train. Electric vehicle (EV), a new power train with high efficiency (DC-DC) converter is used. The DC-DC converter between the battery and inverter for minimization of loss in inverter, in which the chopper output voltage is controlled to suitable value depending on the car speed. The hybrid energy storage system (HESS), which is composed of battery and power Bank, is established to enhance the performance of an electric vehicle (EV). The battery such as large size high cost, shorter cycle life and lower power density can be solved by implementing hybrid energy storage system which is a combination of two or more ESS.

  • To provide a reliable, economical and user friendly solutions for EVH.
  • To compare various aspects of this manual car system with the Electric car system.
  • To find out the economic benefits of introducing Electric vehicle hybrid energy storage system.

Project Implementation Method

The electric vehicle powertrain using hybrid energy storage system consists of a battery bank and Batter and DC/DC converter an inverter, an AC motor and a transmission.

The component sizing, in which components characteristics are determined based on vehicle mission.

Electric vehicle (EV), a new power train with high efficiency (DC-DC) converter is used. The DC-DC converter between the battery and inverter for minimization of loss in inverter, in which the chopper output voltage is controlled to suitable value depending on the car speed.

EV demands high power the batteries and provides power to the vehicle’s wheel   through the DC/DC converter, the inverter, AC motor, and the transmission. On the other hand, when the EV demands low power, the batteries provide power to the wheels through the DC/DC converter, the inverter, the AC motor.

Benefits of the Project

The population increase and also increase the vehicle. The petroleum is limited and will someday run out of supply the petrol. The power train models are developed for various new and existing production vehicles. There is no pollution in this vehicle and ecofriendly system. The next century is to convert in to new technology.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  1. MATLAB2020 will be used for the simulation analysis of the proposed project.
  2. H-bridge inverter topologies will be evaluated for the implementation of the project.
  3. A state-of-the-art model will be developed for  an efficient and smart solution.
