Phased arrays are based on the principle that a consistent phase shift(time delay) in the signals that are feed to the antenna elements can be used to steer the main lobe in desired direction.Hence our  project is divided in to three parts: Power divider, 2D phased array antenna and phase shifter which shift the phase of signal +-45 degree. This 2D plannar microstrip phased array antenna is design at a center freuqnecy of 900Mhz.

Project Objectives

1.To design a microstrip phased antenna array operate at a center frequency of 900MHz

2.Design array feeder network with integrated power divider and phase shifter required to achieve +-45-degree beam rotation.

3.Stimulate the designed antenna array using HFSS software and then fabricate the antenna using PCB (FR-4 substrate) plotter. Use of Network analyzer to observe the parameters and impedance matching.

Then we use anechoic chamber to verify radiation patterns.

Project Implementation Method

?Our project is divided in to three parts

1) Wilkson power divider

2) 4x4 microstrip patch antenna array

3) Phase shifter

?The antenna is designed using standard equations and stimulate by professional software's called High frequency structural stimulator (HFSS) and ADS software.

?Then we fabricate the prototype achieve from simulation on PCB plotter then stimulate reflection response and radiation characteristics of designed antenna array are corroborated using experimental results obtained from Vector Network Analyzer (VNA).

Benefits of the Project

Considering the importance and numerous applications of phased array technology in defence, medical and other commercial applications like mobile and satellite communication, this project focuses on the system level modeling and simulation of phased array antenna. As our designed can be used to build many other Microstrip phased array antennas for different applications by just changing the center frequency according to our requriemnet.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

At last we fabricate our project on fr-4 substrrate then test our every part by using VNA its return loss, insertion loss and then we set our antenna in anechoic chamber to verify radiation patterns.
