Design of Cloud-based Remote Telemetry System for Small Power Generation System
In this project, a cloud-based system will be designed that will be able to measure the output voltage, output current, water flow rate and temperature etc in a small hydro-power plant. These measured quantities will be sent to the cloud. This data can be sent either by WiFi, or LTE, or GSM text messages depending upon where the powerplant is located. The data in the cloud can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
A good application for this project is the micro-hydro-powerplants (MHPs) installed in the Northern Areas. They are installed in areas that are not easily accessible. The data is gathered manually by physically visiting the location. So, the gathered data is not real-time and is not reliable. With the proposed system, the data can be gathered in real-time and is very accurate.
The designed system can be used in any small power generation systems. The ex-Fata region is ideal for photovoltaic energy systems. The proposed system can be used in these photovoltaic systems.
Similarly, the coastal region in Baluchistan is ideal for Wind Energy system. The proposed system can be used in these Wind Energy systems without any modifications.

The goal of this project is to design a telemetry system for small power generation systems like Micro-Hydro Powerplants, Photovoltaic Systems and Wind Energy Systems. The proposed project will mainly focus on the following objectives:
This project is implemented in the following steps.
1. First a simulation model will be built in Proteus and PSIM to validate the design.
2. Then, a Hardware prototype will be built as a proof of concept (PoC) using off the shelf sensors.
3. While the PoC is tested, the cloud infrastructure is developed.
4. Data is sent to the cloud using the WiFi module.
5. Data is sent to the cloud using the LTE module.
6. Data is sent to the cloud using the GSM module.
7. To reduce the size and cost of the system, the voltage and current measuring sensors are designed.
8. The system is tested with the indigenously designed sensors.
9. The system is tested on the actual power plant.
