Project Summary

This project is about addressing the problems associated with the addition of distributed generation to the distributed network. Problems arise when the penetration of DG increases.So those issues have been addressed.

Project Objectives

A protective acheme has been proposed that aims at eliminating the protection coordination issues in a DG connected distributed generation.

Project Implementation Method

Simulation software ETAP has been used to model an IEEE 13 bus system to simulate firstly the effects of DG integratiob into the system then a fuzzy logic controller has been modeled in the MATLAB that provides the suitable values of time multiplier settinga for relays.

Benefits of the Project

DG penetration is increasin gradually but it carries some issues with it protection being of those issues. So schemes are needed to ensure safe installation of DGs into the existing system.One such scheme is presented in this project.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

ETAP software was used to simulate the system and MATLAB was used for relay settings calculations.
