Project Summary

Induction machines are the most common type of motor used in industrial, commercial, or residential settings. The induction motor works on the principle of induction where an electromagnetic field is induced into the rotor when the rotating magnetic field of the stator cuts the stationary rotor. There are many explanations for induction motor failure and some of them are overheating, short circuiting and power failure. Motor overheating causes mechanical damage and reduces lifespan. This paper illustrates a solution of a monitoring and detection system for the protection of the induction motor from overheating, over current flowing, low voltages, power failure and short circuit faults by monitoring its current, voltage, temperature and RPM in real time. A real-time monitoring and data logging system have developed using Arduino UNO and Lab VIEW software. To reduce the percentage of damage and the rate of induction motor failure, improving the reliability of motor operation. Using a computer, this scheme allows for real-time surveillance and information logging opportunities. It also indicates the condition of the motor at the time of running with an alarming system and trips the motor automatically when gets overheated or short circuit occurs in induction motor. The advanced system is superior in terms of lower power consumption, adjustability, the capability of detecting the heating condition and actuating system accessibility. Practical operation shows that the system is stable, reliable, and simple to run and has the function to satisfy the environmental requirements.

Project Objectives

  • To monitor and protect the induction motor.
  • we are going to design an Arduino and LabView based project which will monitor its temperature ,voltage ,current,RPM and protect it from any kind of fault as mentioned.
  • To measure and monitor the parameters voltage ,temperature, current,RPM of  induction motor using Arduino and LabView .
  • To automate the induction motor in faulty condition.
  • Plot a graph of Parameters verses time in LabView.
  • Save the LabView’s data in excel form in pre-defined location of computer.

Project Implementation Method

it includes both software and hardware 

it is implemented on proteous software as well as on breadboard using ardurino uno and other electrical sensors and components that detects and remove fault in real time and protect the induction motor from damage and burning. 

Benefits of the Project

  It is simple, cheap, low-cost product we can easily monitor and protect our induction motors from all types of faults including short circuit, power failure, line to ground fault, overheating and overloading respectively. It increases the life time of motor.

It is also cost saving, non-polluted, non-noisy and space saving product and can be installed everywhere in daily life where we use an induction motor.

it helps to digitally monitor and check motor parameters ie current, voltage, RPM and ambient temperature 

it generates a parametric's graph to analyze motor characteristics in real time as well as saving its data in form of spreadsheets (for future work).

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Both software and hardware will completely delivers at the end of upcomming july,2022. 

along with complete documentation and analysis details _mathematical modellimg etc.
