Design and Integration of Multicopter for EOD operations
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryUnmanned air vehicles over the past few years have been greatly emphasized and used for various commercial and military uses. Many UAV’s are developed by different industries for agricultural spray, photography and surveillance. In this paper design, integration and test results of heavy payload capability hex-copter for explosive ordinance disposal is being presented. The system was designed for heavy payload lifting, dropping capabilities and for educational purposes. The design process for the multi-copter follows the ecalc method which gives the KV value for the motor, ESC ampere rating required and time of flight. The integration for the claw with overall system is also explained for lifting and dropping mechanism. The system is developed using open source software and hardware. All components are based on open source easily available commercial products. The adopted method provides the system capable of testing, implementation, tasks and solution. Including basic configuration tools provide elementary setup and testing. Adopted method inculcated advanced configurations system tools from open source structure that enabled advanced scientific research and tests. In this paper, an original trajectory controller, like a proportional integral derivative (PID) one is taken into account. Paper presents results of design process, specifications, system configuration and technical issues followed by their solution in flight tests and practical research results.
