Introduction of the Complete Project:
Our major aim is to design a High-Speed Target Drone (HSTD) which is intended to address the air to defense role and training role. The system is composed of a drone with parachute recovery system and a catapult launcher. The key performance parameters include:
Range = 100 km
Endurance= 60 min
Maneuverability= 5g
Maximum speed= 0.9
Altitude= 7500 m
This project is divided into three sub-projects namely Design group, CFD group, and Controls group. The results from all groups will be converged. The manufacturing is for now a bonus and will be jointly done by three groups.
Introduction of Flight Control System Group
Our group task is to design a flight dynamics model using stability derivatives and geometric masses by developing state space and transfer function so that we perform analysis of stability and handling qualities. On the basis of this we develop basic autopilot/ Stability augmented system. After that we will design the Flight Control System for our HTSD. This Flight Control System is then passed through Software In loop Simulations.
We will add Hardware In Loop Simulation as bonus task if we find time in our time line.
Also, we would be working on the parachute recovery system of the HSTD.
The main purpose of high-speed target drone is to address the aiming practice of fighter pilots. This is going to be more effective for air defense.
