Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummarySandblasting is a method used to clean and give a surface finish to metals. Sandblasting is used in almost every industry that uses metal, including aerospace, automotive, construction, foundry, shipbuilding, rail, and many others. Sandblasting machines can take the form of a blast cabinet, the blast media is pneumatically accelerated by compressed air and projected by nozzles onto the component to remove surface contaminants. For the application of local sandblasting process on small components, as we cannot carry out the blasting process in open atmospheric, so many times we have to shift jobs to confined room. Due to this job handling cost increases. To avoid this, there is a need for the design of a portable type shot blasting machine.
Project Objectives• Complete 3D Modeling of Sand Blaster in Solid Works.
• Design Calculation of various parts of sandblaster i.e. mass flow rate of sand, Pressure of compressor.
•Fabrication of sand Blaster in a single unit.
•Testing and Troubleshooting on various surfaces i.e. car doors, other aluminium surfaces.
