When this system is not used for a long period of time, it starts having problems. As the system becomes older, the parts become non-existent in market and even if they are available, the price is very high due to imported items. This project is focused on finding a local solution for the problems occuring in the air starting systems. After detailed study of the system it is found that the pressure holding valve of the air bootles fail to hold the pressure. the diapharm of the valve ruptures after some time due to high pressure.is made up of thin copper sheets.the pressure holding valves were designed in the 1960s and the design is very primitive. In this project we are looking to design such a product which would hold the high pressure for a longer period of time, keeping in view the easy installment of the product. the product will be easy to manufacture and will be easily availablein the market.
Project ObjectivesThe objective of the project is to do a detailed study of the air starting systems, understand its working principals, understand the working and purpose of each component of the system. The main objective of the projecis to find out the faults in the compnents of the air starting system and then find a local solution for the prooblems.The project is aimed to find a solution which is easy to build, low cost and easy install.
Project Implementation MethodWe are designing our products keeping in view the dimensions of the old parts, modifying other parts will not be required for installation of our products. As it will address an already existing problem in the market, its adaptability is not an issue. The user will be given a quick easy to install, cost effective solution hence they will be ready to implement.
Benefits of the ProjectThe main beneficiary of the product would be public and private organizations having such heavy engines and machinery. The problem is already existing and highlighted at various forums and a lot of precious foreign exchange is being spent to keep these systems functional however, such indigenous solution will address an existing issue and develop a knowledge base of our students to further improve the existing systems. In this study, such system will be evaluated and then trouble creating parts or sub-systems will be replaced with an indigenous solutions. This will not only help to keep these systems in working condition but also will enhance the knowledge of the students on such systems so that they are able to further work on it and replace the whole system with an indigenous solution.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe problem is found to be in the pressure holding valve of the pressure tanks. A befitting product will be designed keeping in view the old design parameters so that the minimum change in the components will be required for adaptability. The product will be designed through CAD modelling and analyzed in ANSYS. After examining the virtual model, we will proceed towards the manufacturing the product. the product will be installed and then put through rigorous testing. after test of the product a final improved design will be launched which would be made available in the markett.
