Project Objectives

Our goal is to develop a robot arm designed to handle substances or objects that require extreme care. This mechanism works on the same principles a acoustic tweezers. While these are small scale devices and operate in fluid medium but these acoustic levitation devices are most concerned with overcoming gravity

Project Implementation Method

1.The idea that something so intangible can lift objects can seem unbelievable, but it's a real phenomenon.

2. Acoustic levitation takes advantage of the properties of sound to cause solids, liquids and heavy gases to float.

3. Between Two metals plates, high frequency is fired

4. Transducer(which fires the waves) and a Reflector which bounces them back at the opposite direction.

5. These generate Standing waves which give the object caught between them an illusion of stillness and can suspend any object in thin air.

Can be used to levitate non-conducting materials

Better work area given for the object

Reduced Risk to Health and material

Greatly Reduced strain on the work piece

The acoustic levitation technique will be used for sensitive tasks.

Robotics Theory

Development of a solid understanding in the core project to better understand the working of the robot  and ANSYS stress simulation

Manipulator Control

Deployment of Arduino Micro Controller and LabView Simulation software to control the robot arm and levitation mechanism

Acoustic Levitation

Design and Fabrication of a acoustic levitation mechanism capable of producing a force on the object to grip on a controller.

Control and Implementation

Implementation of operating capabilities of the Project in complete.
