Project Title

Design and Fabrication of advance forklift truck model for material handling system

Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject Summary

Material handling may improve customer service by making items easier to manage, move, and ship; reduce costs by decreasing the time spent moving products; and reducing manufacturing damage by appropriately carrying the products. We are making a model of advance forklift truck by adding fabrications to it. It will consist of modifications needed to improve the material handling system.

Project Objectives

The objectives of our Project are:
>To design the model of the advanced forklift truck including Arduino and sensors.
>To design the adjusted the fork-arms that would carry objects of variable size.
>To fabricate the working model of the forklift truck.
>To embed load cell in the fork-arms that would show weight of the object on the digital screen.

Project Implementation Method

To accomplish the objectives and purpose of the research, the proposed methodology includes the following steps.
1. Literature review.
2. Problem statement.
3. Proposal.
4. Detail literature review.
5. Model Designing.
i. 2D Model Design.
ii. 3D Solid-WORKS model..
6. Material Collection/ Purchasing.
7. Working on Model.
8. Circuit design and Data coding.
9. Fabrications in the Project.
10. Compiling the Model and Results.
11. Documentation and Project Submission.

Benefits of the Project

The Benefits of our project are:

> It consists of an Arduino MEGA microcontroller which is linked to the Mobile phone or a controller through a bluetooth module.
> It has adjustable forkarms to carry objects of different sizes.
> It has a load cell sensor embed in the Forkarms to weigh the object being lifted which reducing the chances of imblancing.
> It will carry the larger objects irrespective of its size because the rules of lifting techniques are followed.
> Center of gravity and Torque of the model are taken into account.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

> Size of the Model is 24x18 inch.
> Consists of Arduino MEGA microcontroller which is the brain of the model.
> Has 4 Stepper motors(wiper motors) of 12V/6A for the wheels.
> Has a Stepper motor of 12V for lifting.
> Has a motor driver to control the speed of the motors.
> Consists of batteries with a charger having the working time of 1 hr.
> Has a Bluetooth module to link the model to mobile phone or a controller.
> Has Load cell sensors embed in the Forkarm to weigh the object being lifted.
> Has a digital screen to show the weight of the object.
> Has adjustable Forkarms to carry objects of variable sizes.
> Has its own pallets.
