Design and Development of Zero Energy Buildings based on indigenously available solar and waste sewerage water
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryZero energy building concept is the idea of buildings being able to use low cost, locally accessible, non-polluting, renewable energy supplies to fulfill all their energy requirements.Zero energy buildings is the combination of electrical technology and architecture but in our project we only design its electrical part. This project focuses on the utilization of on site avaliable energy(renewable) resources which in our case is waste sewerage water(Hydro) avaliable in buildings and solar panels that can harness solar energy .This will be an off grid system.Power harnessed from these souces will be integrated together using hyberdization .Energy from waste sewerage will be harnessed using self designed in-pipe micro hydro crossflow turbine and a self made generator to convert this mechanical energy to electrical.Energy from solar will be harnessed using PV module.Power electronics Circuitary will also be self designed according to our requirement.
Project Objectivesour main objective is to reduce the load stress on national grid and relay on energy sources that our indigenously avaliable on the site that is to make buildings self sufficient in terms of energy as 40 percent energy of the national grid is consumed by buildings.
Project Implementation MethodMain Block Diagram

Air is optional in this case
As above we can see that we have 3 sources.
in case of sewerage hydro energy, in pipe micro crossflow turbine will be used to extract energy and generator will be used to produce electrical energy.produced energy(AC) will be converted to DC through rectifier and then regulated to a certain level.Similarly for solar energy we will use PV panel to convert solar to electrical energy(DC) and then use MPPT to reguate and track the maximum power point in order to increase efficiency.
then using relays and microcontroller will performing switching to charge battery and ten inverter will convert that energy to AC again and use for AC load
Benefits of the Project•To overcome energy crisis
• Reduce energy consumption
• Reduce dependence on fossil fuels
• Reduce greenhouse gases and global warming
• Protect our environment for future generation
