Recently, with the development of industry, the use of fossil Fuels and the demand for personal vehicles are increasing hence, the quantities of fine dust are also increasing. Most of the fine dust is composed of Sulfate and Nitrate, which cause smog and have adverse effects on human Health. Air filtration is frequently recommended as a component of environmental control measures. Therefore, use of air cleaners and filters are one of the suggested strategies to improve indoor/outdoor air quality. Our project is practical implementation of the idea of design and fabrication of air purifying system, which works on renewable energy (solar energy). Our project is designed for outdoor air purification targetting industrial areas. It consists of Solar panel (for energy supply), power battery (for delivering power when solar energy isn’t available), air purifier which has hybrid filtering system and air quality monitoring system (to give the air composition data’s). A hybrid filtering system made up of two filtering sections, primary filtering section has pre-filter (HEPA filter). A pre-filter captures the largest particles before they reach the high voltage generator. Most of the particles in your air are large particles like dander and dust, not tiny ones like pollens and microbes. Secondary filtering system consist of high voltage ion generator (Marx Generator) uses charged electrical surfaces to generate electrically charged ions. These ions attach to airborne particles which are then electrostatically attracted to each other, become larger in size, and fall to the ground. Negative ions have the added advantage of making human beings feel fresh and energized. Air quality is compared and thresholds are set according to WHO standards being set for pure breathable air. These elements work together to absorb smoke, gases and odors that are present in the air. An Air Pollution Monitoring System is finally delivered which is going to monitor the Air Quality over a LCD display and will trigger an alarm when the air quality goes down beyond a certain level. It will show the air quality in PPM on the LCD, so that we can monitor it very easily. |

Standards of World Health Organization (WHO)for purified breathable air were used and taken as standards in our project. We intend to have following features in our project. a) Intake of polluted air. b) Monitoring and quality check of air. c) Initiating Alarms if predefined threshold values of good quality air are violated. d) Starting High Voltage Generator in order to get rid of Nano dust particles suspended in Air. |

Technical Details of Final Deliverable| The final deliverable project consists of a solar panel which converts solar Energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy passed to the charge Controller and charged the battery. When solar energy can completely satisfy the load and battery is also fully Charged then charge controller provides charge directly to the high voltage Generator that is Marx generator. Marx generator works on low voltage supply to generate high voltage pulse. When solar energy is not available then battery provides voltage to Marx Generator to generate high voltage at electrode. Initial gas sensor senses which pollutants are present in the air and shows that on LCD display. Both filters and High Voltage Generator are used in order to purify air. When gas is passed through the electrodes a check has been placed which will identify either the Air is pure or not by comparing it with International Air Quality Index. if the thresholds were crossed, both primary and secondary filtering will take place one for large particles with the help of filters and secondary one with ionization of Nano particles and Pollutants therefore absorbed in the electrode.
