To design 100kV impulse generator to test the insulation of electrical apparatus which requires High voltage
? To design and Fabrication of Marx impulse generator.
? To design and Fabrication of 20KV, 1uF Capacitors.
? To generate 100KV DC from 220V AC

Project Implementation Method

The aim is to produce high voltage impulse using Marx circuit topology. So, firstly the circuit for single exponential waveform will be analyzed and mathematical model or mathematical relation will be developed. Then the circuit to generate double exponential waveform that actually resembles with lightening impulse  will developed and finally the mathematical model for ten stages impulse generator will be obtained from these analysis.

Implementation of DC power supply with DC motor. The DC motor which we use for the main spark gap triggering. The speed of this dc motor is 12 RPM. its means that motor will provide 12 pulses in one minute.

after this we use ZVS driver which provde pulsating dc to the flyback transformer.the output of this fluback trasnformer is 7.5kv.

The essential twisting of the fly back transformer is driven by a change from a DC supply (more often than not a transistor). we design ten stages for 100kv marx generator with combination of series and parallel with each other. we use 20kv capacitor of 2uf.

The output of flyback transformer is 7.5kv passed to resistor and capacitor ladder network. In the last stage we can obsered high impulse which is used for insulation testing of transmission line.
