Design and Development of Energy Efficient Synchronous Reluctance Motor
A synchronous reluctance motor is motor with no rotor winding. We will design the synchronous reluctance motor with assistant of permanent magnet for washing machine having capability of washing 5kg clothes at a time. In the beginning we will design the main dimensions like stator and stator slots, different insulations and magnet position. Finally determine the best value for maximum average torque and minimum torque ripple.Previously we have used induction motors but they are more costly as compare to reluctance motor. SynRM doesn’t have any rotor winding that saves electricity. It is also smaller in size. The losses caused by winding will also not happen. It will meet efficiency and productivity standards.
Our goal is to design synRM for washing machine with high torque density, high rotational speed and maximum efficiency.
As we have discussed in details and objectives that our first and foremost task will be to design on simulation based software like Infolytica Magnet and MotorSolve. We will first analyze the performance of different designed models and when we find out the best one then we will design the hardware for it.
First of all we will do our first design on AutoCAD than we will import to Infolytica Magnet and Motor Solve when needed for obtaining optimum performance. The final waveforms and harmonics will be obtained through MATLAB software. We will calculate the flux density in the motor components. In this design, stator slot dimensions are calculated by sizing equation and then rotor structure is analyzed with finite element method. This synchronous reluctance motor is designed for 5kg washing machine which rated power 400W.
