Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThis project is a protype of a Color Mixing Machine which will be fully automated using PLC. There will three basic colors at the top from where we will be getting any other color except the basic color using mixer and and any two or more colors. As it is an industrial project we have used PLC to automize it. We will be able to control/monitor it from our laptop/Pc's using SCADA. This project can be used in Textile Industry, cement industry, beverage industry and all other industries where mixing is done.
Project ObjectivesThe objective of our project is to design, develop and monitor Automatic Color Mixing Machine Using PLC. A modern programmable logic controller deliver a wide range of functionality, including basic relay control, motion control, process control, and complex networking, as well as being used in Distributed Control Systems. There are several different types of interfaces that are used when people need to interact with the programmable logic controller to configure it or work with it. In this application, going to mix the color in different proportion and fill in a bottle using PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). Here Siemens S7-200 PLC is used, which acts as the heart of the system. The system sequence of operation is designed by ladder diagram. Several electronics and electric devices that usually be controlled and operated by the PLC such as a submersible motor pump, conveyor belt, solenoid valve, relays etc. This system is applicable in color mixing plant, milk industries, chemicals, foods, mineral water and many more manufacturing, processing and packaging industries.
Project Implementation MethodThere are three containers, first container contains color 1 liquid, second container contains color 2 liquid , third container contains color 3 liquid with the respective solenoid valves connected to them, and middle container is mixing and filling container. Mixing container connected with a solenoid valve. We have used a DC Motor with blender to mix our colors. We also have a water container for cleaning before/after its operation. At the end we have a final product container which will be collecting our final color. Relays are used to send signals from plc to solenoids or water pumps which will be working after receiving signal from relay. We have also 3 containers for extra colors at the back of our hardware from where color can be transported up to basic color containers using motor pumps.
Benefits of the ProjectUser can select one of the colors availabe on the HMI. User can determine the time of stir motor. User can determine the time of washing. There wiil be no requirement for labors which will be doing manual work. This whole work will be automated now using PLC. This whole system will be user friendly and easy to use. It can be understandable to every person working in industry.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThis hardware will be very easy to use. It will need an AC to DC converter because the PLC and all other hardware is working on DC voltage. The program will already be burned in PLC. User just have to switch on and select the desire color from option available and after sometime it will give the desired output in our final container.
