The motivation behind this project in the indegnious development of low cost but highly integrated lab eqipment. These lab equipments can then be mass produce at low cost to equppied the national educational institutions.

DC Servo Motor Trainer is a lab equipment used to understand and study the operational principal and the fundamental mathematical model of a DC Motor. The system can be used to experimentally determine various motor parameters. Additionally it can also be utilized to understand the fundamental concepts of feedback control system> The system has a graphic LCD display equipped with a touch screen for real time interective display. The trainer can be used as a standlone system or can be used with a personal computer for real time data logging and control.

  • Mathematical Modeling of a DC Motor
  • Interfacing with Quadrature Encoder
  • Circuit design for Measuring Motor Current & Voltage
  • Design the Variable Voltage Power Supply
  • DC Motor Speed & Position Measurement
  • Data Analysis for Motor Parameter Estimation
  • Real Time Data Logging
  • Bi-Directional Motor Control
  • PID Controller for  DC Motor Speed & Position Control

Project Implementation Method

Understanfd the fundamental  concepts of motor and to finding the transfer function of motor. Select the motor and LCD and remaining components .Then design the model of trainer on CAD. After that interface the encoder with microcontroller for measuring the speed and position. Design different circuits for measuring the speed of motor at different voltage. Interface LCD with controller and do experiment. Fix all the parts and start experimenting.

  • Display Graph of Speed of motor in real Time on LCD.
  • Control Voltage Across Motor by Single Touch.
  • Set the Desired Values of Kp, Kd, Ki for Position Control of Motor.
  • Display Step Response of Motor on LCD.
