Overview:

We believe that our concept will be a benchmark in the agribusiness due to its reliability and remote monitoring. CropIOT system tries to digitalize farming and agricultural activities so that the farmers can check on the requirements of the crops and accurately predict their growth. This concept will surely accelerate their business to reach new heights and also be more profitable. The implementation of our project largely depends upon the awareness among farmers, which, we believe will be easily created due to its numerous advantages.

Scope:

Our idea not only tries to mitigate the primitive techniques related to agriculture but also serve the community by opening new avenues for employment. The applications are extensive with easy implementation. The foremost function of our project is to monitor the crop growth using digital means. This will provide the accurate values of various parameters upon which the growth depends. Besides this, it will help the farmer to monitor more than one agricultural land at the same time. Since most of the monitoring is done remotely, it will help the farmer to gain information which is crucial for the business during his/her spare time. We plan to make it user-friendly by involving a simple GUI along with mobile messaging. Since monitoring through our system requires less manpower, people with physical disabilities can be employed for the monitoring of fields. Overall, our project idea is feasible, which can easily be implemented and has a wide scope in terms of its application.

In scope:

     It is a system that is built for monitoring the crop field with the help of sensors (light, humidity, temperature, soil moisture, crop health, etc.)

Out of scope:

     It can bring efficiency to the agricultural space and create a virtuous cycle that makes food products more readily available to consumers, saves farmers time and money, and lessens the environmental impact of farming by driving sustainability into the process.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project is to design a smart Agriculture in order to monitor a crop growth. The system mainly consists with Raspberry Pi Camera, Moisture Sensor, Temperature Sensor DS18B20, Arduino Water level sensor along with LCD Display. Initially the system will collects all the parameters regarding the crop and displays in the LCD-Display similarly with the help of Pi camera the system will predict and analysis for animal intrusion and the same thing will be transmitting to the server.

The crop monitoring through IOT project will meet the following objectives:

  • Soil moisture sensors:

Soil moisture sensors measure the water content in soil. A soil moisture probe is made up of multiple soil moisture sensors. One common type of soil moisture sensors in commercial use is a frequency domain sensor such as a capacitance sensor.

  • Measuring soil moisture:

Measuring soil moisture is important in agriculture to help farmers manage their irrigation systems more efficiently. Not only are farmers able to generally use less water to grow a crop, they are able to increase yields and the quality of the crop by better management of soil moisture during critical plant growth stages.

  • Temperature Sensor:

You can measure temperature more accurately than a using a thermistor.

Project Implementation Method

The implementation phase involves putting the project plan into action.

Web application and mobile application will be created. For web application we will be using HTML, CSS and javaScript for creating the interactive and user friendly interface of website. And for mobile application java will be use.

IOT sensors will be integrated through C. PHP and MySql for database.

The function requires insert prevention techniques on database and then retrieves all the details in the app and can be search through search filtration. Admin can add prevention techniques on database and user can search easily on the app. There will be a detailed description on each prevention technique user can read by clicking on prevention technique image. Detail will be both English and Urdu.

Languages:

Language is a major issue. In order to solve this problem, details and overall application will be in both English and Urdu.

Admin panel:

Admin Panel is basically the core of most applications. Designed to help user-related functions, from providing insight into user behavior to tracking transactions.

Registration panel:

A web page or an entry page to a website that requires user identification and authentication, regularly performed by entering a username and password combination.

Farmer panel:

Manage farms and get ready for the next suitable step.

Expert panel:

Expert panels are used when specialized input and opinion is required for an evaluation. Generally, a variety of experts are engaged based on various fields of expertise to debate and discuss various courses of action and make recommendations.

Model

Soil moisture, water level sensor are often used to collect data in all aspects of crop growth such as nursery, growth, and harvest. Through these sensors the data will be live on website so that the experts can suggest the best optimal solution.

Benefits of the Project

  • One of the benefits of using IoT in agriculture is the increased agility of the processes. Thanks to real-time monitoring and prediction systems, farmers can quickly respond to any significant change in weather, humidity, air quality as well as the health of each crop or soil in the field.
  • They allow individualized analysis of farms, which leads to their growth.  
  • They maintain control of the crops, detect the lack of fertilizers or water, locate diseases and pests, monitor fumigated areas, obtain high-resolution images, and allow to know the properties of the soil.
  • They manage to save costs, improve the use of resources by contributing to the maintenance of the environment, increase the economic benefits of farmers, as well as the rest of the professions related to the sector.
  • They make it possible to know in detail the condition of a certain crop.
  • They manage to work individually on each plant, surpassing the traditional management and management modalities.
  • They improve the quality of the products and, therefore, their price.

  • Experts panel to provide suitable recommendation

            CropIOT system also contain hardware module in order to make sure the system is working as it is intended for. And also to make clear understanding about the whole process.
