Critical success factors of e-procurement and its impact towards sustainability: Pakistani perspective
The aim of the study was to investigate the critical success factors in the implementation of e-procurement in the organizations and then to predict its impact on sustainability. Added to this, it also understands that how business performance in terms of efficiency and effectiveness is improved by the successful implementation of Information communication technology (ICT) in their procurement process and how much the e-procurement process contributes towards the sustainability. In the study, both primary and secondary data has been used. Secondary data were collected from previously published articles, different journals, magazines, newspapers, blogs, books, dialogues and research papers. While the primary data were collected through a survey which is both an online and physical approach to the respondents. The data were collected to form the procurement and supply chain departments of public and private organizations in Pakistan. For the analysis, the MCDM technique ANP based TOPSIS approach has been used to rank the criteria and alternatives. While the structural equation model (SEM) was used for the assessment of e-procurement on sustainability. The findings of the study reveal shows that e-procurement technology is successfully adopted in private organizations then public organizations in Pakistan. The study also shows that e-procurement has a huge impact on sustainability. It advantages the organizations in many ways like reduces resources, increases efficiency, etc. The study communicates several implications for Private and Public purchasing practitioners, decision and policy makers and for further research in this field. This research also investigates the loopholes in the implementation process and provide suggestions for successful implementation of e-procurement in the organization. Limited literature has been present in this area that used the MCDM technique ANP based TOPSIS approach on the e-procurement in the private/public organizations especially in Pakistan.
The purpose of this study is to identify and rank the most critical success factors towards the implementation of e-procurement in Pakistani organizations. Added to this, the researcher in this study also want to determine the effect of the e-procurement process on sustainability. Towards the more specific objective of this study is to understand that how much the business performance in terms of efficiency and effectiveness be improved by the successful implementation of Information communication technology (ICT) in their procurement process and how much the e-procurement process contributes towards the sustainability in the environment.
The study communicates several implications for Private and Public purchasing practitioners, decision and policy makers and for further research in this field. It is important to understand for the policymakers to align better the objectives of both e-procurement and sustainable procurement. In such area, there is needs to be aware that a single policy related to e-procurement and sustainability might be pursued at the sacrifice of the others, certainly as e-procurement in the organization seems to be slow down procuring from Small medium enterprises (SMEs). It is the responsibility of the policy makers to develop such a policy that encourages every form of business in the country.
This research also investigates the loopholes in the implementation process of e-procurement in the organization. So, in the future, the organization will be considered such issues at their notice while to implement the e-procurement technology in their organizations. As a result, they achieve the organization efficiency, reduces excess usage of resources and will enhance the organization performance.
Through this project, the organizations are successfully adopted the e-procurement technology in their system. This software is user-friendly and developed accordingly to the culture of the organization. This technology reduces the excess usage of resources and will enhance organization performance.
