The main objective of our project is to convert conventional bike into smart electric bike. Project is a physical deliverable. This project consists of a bike, battery, controller, converter, BLDC-hub motor, throttle, arduino Uno, finger print sensor, GPS/GSM module etc. This project used in urban areas provide eco-friendly environment and reduce the noise pollution.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of this project is to convert conventional bike into smart-electric bike by replacing engine with BLDC- hub motor & battery and make it smart too using finger print sensor for on/off purpose and GPS/GSM for real time location monitoring. This project will accomplish following objectives:
- To conduct the research related to the project.
- To design a real time prototype of smart electric-bike using BLDC- hub motor & battery and finger print sensor and GPS/GSM.
- To design and implement an effective charging system that will charge the battery short span of time.
- To test the designed prototype of smart electric-bike.
We will start our project with a detailed review of the related research. For that purpose, research of some articles or papers has been conducted. By following it we can convert conventional bike into smart electric bike. The implementation of our project is done using following steps:
Step#1: First of all to conduct the litirature review and research survey related to the project.
Step#2: We design the architecture of the project.
Step#3: Purchasing the devices, components, and equipment that we will use in the project.
Step#4: The base of project is bike we have purchase from bike mechanics.
Stept#5: After that purchase all the components (i.e battery, controller, BLDC-hub motor, converter, throttle, arduino Uno, GPS/GSM module, finger print sensor etc.) and implement into the base and connect each component according to their connections.
Stept#6: We check the results. if results are positive then our project will be ready.
Benefits of the ProjectOur smart electric-bike is a physical product with new features like fingerprint based on/off and real time location monitoring system. Smart electric-bike consists of following benefits.
- Easy to use: With Smart electric-bike, to get going all you have to do is twist the throttle and you're off. You don't have to worry about shifting, stalling, or any of the other headaches that go along with the traditional manual transmissions you find in fossil fuels-powered bikes.
- Eco-friendly environment: Our smart electric-bike will be provides eco-friendly environment because it doesn’t emits the harmful gases.
- Low maintenance: As compare to conventional bikes the maintenance of smart electric-bikes are very easy because smart electric-bikes don’t have any air filters, oil, spark, plugs, timing belts etc.
- Noise free: Our smart electric-bike is much quieter than conventional bikes.
- Easy to ride: Our smart electric-bike is perfect any easy to ride because it is free from clutch, gears and engine.
The final delivery of the project is a physical product which is consists of the following major components:
- Lithium-ion Battery: It have 48v and 20AH lithium-ion battery as power source for smart electric-bike.
- BLDC- hub motor: The Brushless Direct Current-hub (BLDC-hub) motor is used to convert supplied electrical energy into mechanical to run an electric-bike. BLDC usually installed at rear wheel of smart electric-bike.
- Smart system: The smart system consists following:
- Finger print based on/off: A finger print sensor (R305/R307) is used to on/off our smart electric-bike by using finger prints of individuals.
- Real time location monitoring: A GPS (Neo-6M) and GSM (SIM 800/900) Modules is used to monitor the real time location of our smart electric-bike.
- Arduino UNO: The smart system have an arduino UNO to control the finger print sensor and GPS/GSM module.
- BLDC-hub motor Controller: It have BLDC-hub motor controller which is be used to set the power from BLDC to smart electric-bike. BLDC-hub motor controller act as brain of smart electric-bike.
- Throttle: Our smart electric-bike have throttle and typically located on the grip or the handlebar, the throttle provides direct power to the motor up to its top speed.
- DC-DC converter: Smart electric bike have primary component called DC-DC converter. They have the task of converting the energy supplied by the battery to provide the required voltage and current to the remaining parts of the circuit.
