Also, in large industries relays are used to operate different machines which are controlled by PLC or any other micro-controller. The functionality of this whole system depends on the proper working of relays. So, to test different relays as they are working properly, we need relay tester.
In this project we are making a universal relay tester kit, that can be used to test following different type of relays:
1. Electromechanical relays
2. Static relays
4. Numerical relays
5. Digital relays
Project ObjectivesThe purpose of this project is to provide a virtual environment to test the characteristics, functionality and accuracy of protection relays.
The main objective of this project is to make a low cost, local relay tester with following specifications:
3-phase variable voltage source 0-300Vrms
3 Variable DC voltage source 0-300V
6- phase variable current injectors 0-12.5A
Variable frequency 49-51Hz
We will perform following tests using this relay tester kit:
- Over current Test
- Over voltage Test
- Under Voltage Test
- Variable frequency Test
- Differential relay Test
- Design and simulate our circuit of relay tester kit for single phase Variable current, Voltage and Frequency.
- Implement our single-phase controlled inverter on hardware.
- Program our micro-controller to control our relay tester. So, can take desired
- Develop a software to operate the relay tester.
- Convert our single-phase inverter into six phase inverters. (6-phases for the testing of differential relays.)
In Pakistan relay tester are imported from other countries, like China, Japan, Germany etc as there is no such comapny that is making relay testers. The prices of these relay testers are too high, For example. Price of KINGSINE KS093046 is 2500000/-
Our Aim is to develop a relay test set for power system. That can be used to test relays at generation plants, gird stations like, by WAPDA, NTDC and other local market.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- Closed loop Variable voltage-controlled AC to DC converter
- Filter circuit to reduce the ripples of DC Voltage
- 6-phase Closed loop Variable Current, Voltage and frequency DC to AC Inverter.
- Filter circuit to convert the Output wave into pure sinusoidal.
- Constant 12V DC supply.
- The voltage and current will be controlled using PWM.
- Develop a Software and PC interfacing using UART protocol that can be used to control relay tester, data acquisition and record the data.
