Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryEach year many coal mine workers die because of incidents in coal mines, majority of incidents are caused by explosions or presence of hazardous gases. The Sunjiawan mine disaster was a mine disaster that occurred in Liaoning province, in the northeastern part of the People's Republic of China. Initial reports indicated that at least 214 coal miners were killed. In USA Cherry Mine Disaster occurred which killed over 200 workers. Twenty-three miners were killed and 11 were injured in separate incidents at two coal mines in southwest Pakistan in recent years, which were blasts caused by a buildup of methane gas. In order to determine the environment in coal mine we propose “COAL MINE INVISTIGATOR”.
This project consist of a drone which is used for safety survey in Coal Mines and will detect the presence of hazardous gases( like methane etc.), abnormality of temperature and air quality(for dust particles) in mine so that chances of potential hazard ( e.g. explosion ) can be obtained.
Objectives are :
Detect presence of harmful gases in coal mine.
Detection of abnormal temperature.
Determine quality of air in mine (e.g. dust particles in air).
Predict system for explosion.
Our project is not only about the hardware but a major portion is about software development as well in which first we will collect data from sensors programmed in Arduino IDE. One module is Machine learning algorithm will be used for the prediction which is a major module, also we are making a website which will read data wirelessly and on which all the scenario will be displayed e.g. (Current environment about mine, chances of explosion etc.).
Project Objectivesthis project have following objectives
- Automate the process of surveying in Coal Mines.
-Provide safety of survey team since we are collecting data via drone
- show online statistics of the internal environment of coal mine.
-predict the chances of explosion that can occur in mine.
Project Implementation MethodFirst we will design and build a drone, then we will implement the circuits of the sensors and test them, along with that we build website, our implemetation methods will nearly be similar as the projects which are developed using waterfall model.
Benefits of the ProjectMajor benefit of the project is it will provide safety, for the workers in COAL MINE.
This project will save time of COAL Mine Survey Team.
Also it will be cost effective since there will be no need of manual survey in detail.
Also the prediction alerts will also be beneficial for COAL miners.
Technical Details of Final Deliverablethe project consists of two parts the hardware and the software.
Hardware part includes the drone upon which the sensors will be mounted.
Software part includes the website which will used to view the statistics and the predictions.
Drone pilot must be with in one kilometer radius of the drone.
And internet connection is required for the website.
