Chemistry Lab Analysis Management and Forecasting

Project Area of Specialization Software EngineeringProject Summary

Chemistry lab analysis management and forecasting system (CLAMFS) is a desktop-based platform. To develop best practices for multiple requirements of university based chemistry department. The main idea of this project is to provide a software which will display the chemicals, instrument, equipment, and glassware statuses. A forecasting feature is also included which will help to figure which chemical should be included in the requisition budget. Through this software the faculty members can also schedule lab course and lab task of a semester. It also forecast a future budget for the instrument, chemicals and equipment. 3D modeling is also included that will enable the student to understand the practical or the experiments more clearly. Through this system we can manage the requisition and usage of chemicals, equipment and instruments that are being used in the chemistry labs. This means that this desktop application will provide the advance outline requirement. Each students and teacher will be able to access this system. Lab assistant and teacher can access this system on their personal PCs. Students can access its mobile application on their mobile phones. This system will help teachers and lab assistants because they want a system which helps them to analyze all equipment, glassware and instruments. Mobile app will also develop in which students can view lab scheduling, lab’s SOPs and lab manual, in addition student can also understand their lab’s equipment, instruments, glassware and experiment through 3D modeling. In this system there will be a student database which will enroll all the students. So this system is basically for problem solving of Chemistry Department of Jinnah University for Women. In this system basically we have 3 modules i.e. Analysis Module, Management Module and Forecasting Module. In Analysis Module.  Screens also provided for lab assistants to enter the live status of chemicals, instruments, equipment and glassware and it will solve the issuance problem and will calculate the quantity of issued lab accessories, then monitor and show the status that how they have remain in stock. In Management Module. Forecasting Module will predict the entire stock and predict the batch size for next upcoming semester and it will predict the budget of lab accessories for next upcoming semester so that it will efficiently save the cost and time and can easily estimate the cost.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

In Chemistry Lab Analysis, Management and Forecasting System (CLAMFS) 2.0 we will provide a system through which user can manage the requisition and usage of chemicals, equipment and instruments that are being used in the chemistry labs. Each students and teacher will be able to access this system. Lab assistant and teacher can access this system on their personal PCs. This system will help teachers and lab assistants because they want a system which helps them to analyze all equipment, glassware and instruments.  We will use Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for developing our project. In Chemistry Lab Analysis Management and Forecasting System (CLAMFS) we will use “Agile” approach for implementation method. In agile approach we will divide our project in sprints. We will use scrum methodology of agile. There are following sprints that we will implement:

In first sprint we will gather and analyze the

Then in the next sprint we will design the project by UML diagrams i.e. ER Diagram, Use case diagram, Activity diagram, sequence diagram etc.

In the next sprint we will first develop the management module for the management of whole stock.

Then in the next sprint, Analysis module will develop for continuously analyzing the data.

Then in the next sprint, forecasting module will develop using prediction algorithm

After completing the development of Forecasting Module we will release some more iterations for developing the 2D animation of equipment, instruments, glassware and experiments

These are the sprints which will used for the implementation method. Then we will performing testing. After testing we will deploy CLAMFS 2.0 to the Chemistry Department of Jinnah University for Women

Benefits of the Project
  • CLAMFS 2.0 will provide data of instrument, glassware, equipment and chemicals related to chemistry labs.
  • It will forecast the stock of chemistry department and predict the budget for next year.
  • All manual work will be computerized.
  • We will convert textual work in graphical representation
  • CLAMFS also provide 3D models of chemical reaction.
  • Chemical issuance procedures would be defined in the system.
  • It also provides SOPs of chemistry labs.
  • It will also generate report of chemicals that are being used and glassware’s that are broken in chemistry labs.
  • It will provide the data regarding lab accessories.
  • It provides a real time data manipulation of stocks to chemistry department.
  • Preserve all accurate records and provide management of data.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We will provide three final deliverables to Chemistry Department of JUW namely desktop application, website and android mobile application. We will deliver 3D modeling in android application. And for 3D modeling we will use 3D max software and desktop application includes 3 modules namely management, analysis and forecasting. In management module we are using formula for bench size. And in analysis module we will analyze the information of wastage and damages of the entire stock in 3rd module forecasting will be done through AI based prediction algorithm forecasting module will help to predict the laboratory accessories for the next upcoming semesters. In management module will do manage chemicals, instruments, equipment’s and bench size.

We will deliver a software which will display the live status of chemicals, instruments, equipment and glassware.. It also forecast a future budget for the instruments, chemicals and equipment. We will deliver a system which will better for control and safety. Personal computers (PCs) will also provide to Chemistry Department to run this system. Chemistry Department have 4 labs and one research lab, so we will have to provide 5 Personal, Computers (PCs) to all the labs for lab assistants and we will need to provide one Master PC for chairperson so that she can easily view the schedule of labs and stocks and other lab accessories. Our aim is to reach the goal of successful chemical management program by including standard operating procedure (SOPs) and material safety data sheets (MSDS) another aim is require to developed forecasting system environment for real time data manipulation of an entire stock with the implementation of CLAMFS 2.0 platform. Through this software faculty members can also schedule lab course and lab tasks of a semester.
