Project Summary

Prints play a very important role in our daily life. For official tasks we need to print different documents for different purposes. University students use printers for multiple purposes like assignments, proposals, student forms etc. Our university does not provide any automated printing services currently. We plan to make a user interactive “Student Assistant Portal” mobile app and a website where students can use the app or website to access the printer and easily get their required prints. Moreover, certain times students wait in queues for printing tasks. There will be a dedicated printer on every floor of the university. The proposed app and website will give your desired prints within 10-30 seconds depending on the number of pages. We will be using flutter for the android and web application. The MAC Address configuration and database techniques will be used. In the final phases there will be a duration of 10 days to test and evaluate results. We will also be facilitating students with two different features. A student interaction portal will be provided where senior students will be able to post their expertise and junior students can contact them to learn different skills from their seniors. The seniors can also guide juniors regarding different choices; for example, what courses to register? How to improve in subjects they lack?

The other feature will be a post and sell your old stationery where students will post their old university stationery like subject notes, old books, files, folders, pens, rulers, registers etc. This will be a platform where students can buy useful stationery according to their needs in minimal prices.

  • To guide juniors easily and facilitate them.
  • To make juniors learn different skills from the senior’s expertise.
  • To make availability of old books, referencing noes at a very low cost.

Project Implementation Method

The project will be done in four phases. In the first phase we will be developing an Android application where the automation process will be done and an interaction portal with a buy and sell old stationery platform will be provided. In the second phase we will be gathering all the documents from the university that students require. The third phase will include the website and deploying of a printer in the university. The fourth phase will include testing and evaluating desired results. We will be using FDD agile methodology. It is an iterative and incremental software development process. FDD blends a number of industry-recognized best practices into a cohesive whole.

Benefits of the Project

Students are quite frustrated at times when they have to wait for a long time to get their prints from a university printing shop when there are multiple students waiting. Sometimes the shop is not open which is quite an issue is if students need their prints on urgent basis. They have to visit the university office to get certain students forms, application forms printed which is also quite frustrating. There are no automated printing services provided in our university currently [1]. Junior students are quite confused regarding multiple university related queries. There is not much of guidance available for them where they can find answers. Students are shy while going to teachers asking for some basic solutions. Students have a tight budget while buying stationery required for different courses and university purposes.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable of this project will be a user-friendly Android application and website where you can share your required printing documents and get the prints. The other feature is where you can select the university documents according to your need from the app/website and get that document printed. It will provide a student interaction portal between juniors and seniors. It will provide a platform, where buying and selling of old stationery can be dealt.

Our app and website will be beneficial for corporate offices, hospitals, universities. It can also be helpful for a shopkeeper who wants fast processing of prints where he connects his printer to our app and tells his customer to use it get prints which will keep the sequence of prints and help the shopkeeper to do other tasks without needing to print for the customers himself.
