Brain Controlled Home Automation System
Brain Controlled home automation uses EEG device to get its input signal from brain. Through EEG device we can record and monitor the electrical activities of brain. To do this we place electrodes on the head of the subject and then these electrodes the brainwave pattern and then send the data to respective receiver. With the help of EEG devices, Brain Computer Interface (BCI) can be created and can perform limitless tasks that can help in several domains of our lives. Our Project will address the issue of controlling appliances by below neck paralyzed patients. Below neck paralyzed patients cannot do their daily tasks on their own and with our setup they would be able to control daily use home appliances with the help of brain signals and be independent to some extent.
The main goal of our project is to design a brain computer interface (BCI), and with the help of BCI we will be able to toggle the devices that we want to do. The tasks in which our project is divided into are;
Neurosky acquire data from brain using ThinkGear in Matlab and the data is then classified to filter out the unnecessary blink signals. The signals above the threshold level are then serially transferred to the Arduino. Signals are transferred at the baud rate of 9600 because it is the data transfer rate of the Arduino UNO. Two LEDs are blinking continuously for equal interval of time. Red LED is for fan and Green LED is for bulb. Now device selection algorithm works by selecting the device whose LED was blinking during the arrival of data. So from an eye blink, we can control the devices and their states.
The completion of our project will help below neck paralyzed patients in controlling the appliances of their rooms using single channel EEG device with the help of Eye Blink Signals.
We will develop a system which will serve as the basis of number of project like Wheel Chair control system using EEG device and Controlling of Robot through Brain signals.
