Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is currently used in daily basis for a wide variety of purposes. The development of CCTV has transformed from a simple passive surveillance into an integrated intelligent control system. In this project, motion detection and facial recognition in CCTV video is used as the basis of decision making to produce automatic, effective and efficient integrated system.
This CCTV video process provides three outputs, motion detection information, face detection information and face identification information.
In this project, we will use a Biometric CCTV footage that will use Facial Recognition to recognize people. In this proposal, we have used functional framework, the design Flowchart of our project and a software approach to implement the project using FR techniques in Open-Face and Open-CV Facial Recognition (FR) libraries, respectively.
Project Objectives
- To identify an intruder on spot from our CCTV footage.
- To help detect crime and the criminal in an instant.
- To reduce incidents of public disorder.
- To keep the people’s information, money and self, safe and secure.
Project Implementation Method
This project is designed with four main processes: person detection process, face detection process, data training process, and face identification process.
The first step is by detecting person from CCTV. If a person is detected in the video which is done using Faster R-CNN model trained for person detection after this we will move on to face recognition.
In face identification process, the face features is tested by using the value gained from data training and matched with data basis. The data training process is done before testing the face identification by using the same image processing. Face identification process produces decision and record the identity of the identified face.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable
Final delivered project will firstly detect a person in the live video. After the person is detected we will perform face recognition/person identification by matching the face of person with the dataset.
