Bio Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryBio-Hybrid-Electric-Vehicle (BHEV) is a new concept in urban transportation to counter issues of environment and noise pollution inherent with fossil fuel based Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). Besides this, our design offers an alternative to Pakistan’s largest means of transportation, i.e., motor cycle. The proposed BHEV is meant for two passengers like a motor bike, but is more stable due to four wheels and more comfortable against weather due to wind shield and roof. Its smaller size will help reduce congestion on roads and parking places. Electric assisted paddling will provide alternative traction mechanism to battery operated EV. We aim to design this EV with degenerative braking mechanism to provide the user with reliable control and longer reach.
Project ObjectivesSome of the main objectives of the project include:
- To make a light weight electric vehicle which can run on paddling by human or by batteries with regenerative braking system to charge the batteries.
- To reduce the pollution by eradicating the exhaust gases due to the combustion of gasoline, thus making an environment friendly means of transport.
- To reduce the space problems for parking the vehicles in the congested urban areas by designing such small and light weight vehicles.
- To make the transportation cheaper and easier as the price of these vehicles is low and their maintenance cost is also low comparable to the other combustion engine or gasoline operated vehicles.
The project implementation method includes:
- CAD models and computer based analysis.
- Selection of material and components.
- Designing of the mechanical structure.
- Designing of electrical circuits.
- Final testing ( Interfacing electrical and mechanical part and testing ).
The benefits of the project includes:
- Power Regeneration ( Increase battery power and running time of vehicle ).
- Replaces conventional bicycles due to it's battery assisted paddling.
- Reduce parking problem and favours cruise travelling on congested roads.
- Cost effiecient ( Maintenance cost is low ).
- Replacing conventional vehicles due it's light weight and cheap cost.
- Environment friendly vehicle ( Pollution free vehicle ).
The Technical Details of Final Deliverable are:
- Vehicle operating on battery ( EV- Mode ).
- Vehicle operating in assisted paddling mode.
- Power regeneration and battery management system.
