Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryToday we are living in the era of Industry 4.0, But in Pakistan, there are still many industries that are using old conventional manpower to run the industry, which is not efficient, safe, and productive.
We are going to design & develop a smart Cartesian Industrial robot to automate the packing process. It will be based on a 3D cartesian structure (like a 3D printer / CNC machine) to precisely pick and place the product.
We will provide a complete SoC-based system that includes a 3-axis cartesian structure, a moveable gripper, conveyer belt, and a camera integrated with raspberry pi for image processing to make our process reliable and robust.
Project ObjectivesIn other countries all their industries are automated as a result, they are growing more rapidly than Pakistan. The total number of Pakistan's labor force is 57.2 million, making it the ninth-largest country by the available human workforce.

We are going to provide a smart automatic solution for the packing process that can be utilized in many industries like in medical, food, and manufacturing to make their packing process fast, secure, and efficient.
Project Implementation MethodWe will design and construct a complete cartesian structure with a gripper having a vacuum suction mechanism attach on the header. The complete system will be controlled by a STM32 f407 board that will act like a master and a raspberry pi as a slave.
The STM32 f407 board will control the 3D movement of the header, suction for pick and place, and the conveyer belt. The raspberry pi will be trained to identify the correct box, its position, shape, and its filling process.
The process will be completely reliable as it includes several verification sensors for the completion of the process. It is also merged with the image processing for detection of the main box’s correct position, shape, faulty or not, and empty or filled.

Our final deliverable will be a complete packing system, where a conveyer belt will control the movement of products, a cartesian structure that will move the header in three linear axis (X, Y, and Z-axis), a gripper with a controlled vacuum pressure for suction, two proximity sensors for product detection and raspberry pi with a camera having trained model of the box for its verification.
