Autonomous Smart Wheelchair
This project focuses on that need by providing navigation control to the person through eye-gesture tracking with obstacle avoidance. It also provides remote access to another person through IoT using Blynk. Blynkcloud will be used in future to store the medical evaluation of the person and a notifier in case of deterioration of the person’s medical status. Additional features to make the slope climbing comfortable and BMS and Solar charging solution for energy efficiency may be worked on.
1. The Eye-gesture control of the wheelchair has been done by taking input through the camera that sends information to raspberry pi which works as master of the esp32 and from a pupil-isolating program in micropython then translates the pupil-movements as commands for the motor driver to move the wheelchair.
2. Remote access for movement control has been provided through a webserver Blynk and its GUI as an android app. In addition, joystick is also provided as an option for movement control.
3. On prototype esp32 was used which receive input signals for user and providing output as distance from object. For distance measurement ultrasonic sensor was used which can measure up to 10 meters. Prototype was equipped with another feature when distance from the object becomes less than 30 cm it automatically stops the prototype and show user that obstacle is detected at certain distance.
4. The medical status of a person will be observed through a senor and uploaded on cloud. In case of a medical abnormality a notification will be sent to the caretaker or relative through IoT.
•Can be used by patients of different levels of paralysis from complete paralytic to incomplete paralytic cases.
