Project Title

Autonomous Rover Using Computer Vision

Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject Summary

The primary goal of this project is to make a robot that can reach a given destination point. The rover will be able to identify and avoid objects in its path. As a result, it will change its path if it encounters any sort of obstacle that may not allow it to pass through. A safe interaction with humans and environment can be ensured by employing cameras and specific software. We will apply ResNet-18 model with Transfer Learning which will be used in image processing and object detection. We will use GPU based Microcomputer Jetson Nano to run our Deep Learning model along with controlling of the rover.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

Our project will progress in three phases, The first phase is based on research in which we will gather more technical information about the Rover’s design and implementation. In second phase we will build software design of our rover and we will train Deep Learning model which will provide best possible results for our environment. The third phase will comprise of hardware implementation in which all hardware components will be assembled and calibrated. The robot will be tested to give the best possible output.

Benefits of the Project

Technical Benefits:

By this project we will research about the enabling technologies for autonomous rover perception, position estimation, navigation.

Social Benefits:

The most basic and widely used application for these machines is for material transport. Rover can transport orders across a warehouse or through a shipping facility countless time a day, in unbroken cycles.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The end of the project will be:

• Hardware Prototype

• Report
• Thesis
