Water can be considered as the most valuable resource that we have, and it is one of the most vital requirements in our daily life since it is used for numerous purposes in homes for kitchen, washroom, laundry etc so availability of clean water is mandatory.Major issue is that many people have don’t have access to water because they are not aware that when the water from the main line enters their house's main line. So people keep on switching the pump to check whether water is coming or not or sometimes they get to know about it from the neighbours .So, this current system is not reliable. Another issue is the quality of water supply. With this current system the residents don’t know about the quality of water. For getting rid of dirty and poor quality water our project aim to solve these issues by designing  AUTOMATIC WATER PUMPING AND QUALITY CHECKING AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM. In our project first water flow is detected by water flow sensor which will switch pump ON then quality of water is checked by pH and turbidity sensor clean water goes in the tank and in case of dirty water is bypassed to neutralizing,  BAC and UV filter for quality improvement by 3 way solenoid valve . The resident will be notified about the switching of pump through text message.There is also a water level monitoring system in the main tank, which will monitor water level at all times and when the water goes beyond the maximum level then the motor will automatically switch OFF.

Project Objectives

There are five major objectives  that we will be achieving in our project
1. Water Flow Detection : Our first objective is to detect the water flow in the pipe which is the basic condition which will turn on the motor,Water flow sensor is used to detect the flow of water, if water flows continuously motor remain ON if not motor remain OFF
.2. Checking Water Quality : As the water starts to flow in the pipe our second objective is checking water's qualitty in which we examine the Turbidity and pH of the water which is flowing in the pipe. Turbidity is clarity of water which is measured by Turbidity sensor that scan the water, pH value of the water is inspected by pH sensor.
3. Filtering Dirty Water : While water has been checked by the quality sensors a decision is taken by the microcontroller If water meet the quality requirement water flows in the tank otherwise water will flow in the neutralizing, BAC and UV filter for quality improvement This detouring is done by 3 ways solenoid valve
4. Water Level Detection: As soon as the water in the tank is full then the motor should be turned off Ultrasonic sensor will be used to measure the water level at all times and with the information of the sensor the pump will be controlled. 
5. Mobile Application : It notify the resident quality of water, motor switching  and water level. It will be done by sending text message to the resident using GSM module.

Project Implementation Method

We aim to make a prototype of the main pipe line which will have two supply water tanks on the input side, one will be of clean water As water flows from the supply tank , the water first goes through the water flow sensor which detects the water and switches the pump ON. Then we determine the quality of the water using the Turbidity sensor and pH sensor. As the clean water flows through these sensors the quality is checked and if the turbidity and the pH level of the flowing water fit for clean water conditions then the water is allowed to enter the main tank. In case of filthy water it flows through these sensors, the sensors detect the poor quality and instantly the decision is taken by the microcontroller and the bypass valve is switched using a relay and the filthy water is bypassed to the quality improvement section

Quality improvement section consist of three filters neutralizing, BAC and UV filter. Neutralizing  filter is used for balancing pH value of water, BAC filter is used for removal of unwanted particles in the water and UV filter for killing the bacteria in the water and the water level is continuously monitored in the tank using the ultrasonic sensor. When the tank is filled the ultrasonic sensor will detect it and the microcontroller with take the decision to switch the pump OFF.The user will be notified through text message using GSM module about, the switching of the pump, the quality of the water, and finally about the water level in the main tank.

Benefits of the Project

The benefits that this project will offer the community:
1. The residents will no longer have to come and switch the pump ON/FF manually to check whether water is coming or not, since it will be all automatically perform
2. Those residents who aren’t aware of the water timing due to which they didn’t access to water will now have access to water without the need of knowing the timing of water.
3. The residents will now able to get access of cleaning dirty water which will be perform by neutralizing, BAC and UV filter .pH and turbidity level of water will be improved and free from germs.
4.  The water pump now won’t be sucking air when there is no water in main line. This won’t damage the pump and thus increase its life.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The end product of our project will be a prototype of Main line’s pipe.This pipe will have all the sensors mentioned above. The quality and flow will be detected in the pipe. And according to the information detected by the sensors the decision will be taken about switching of the pump. The decision will be taken by the microcontroller and the switching of the pump will be done using a relay. In case of filthy water the water will flow in filters for quality improvement  and afterwards water reached the main tank. The water level will be monitored and if the level is beyond the specified level then the pump will be switched off and this decision will also be taken by the microcontroller. The user will be notified by a text message about the Pump Situation and the quality of the water and the water level in main tank.
