Project Summary

The Automatic water motor controller is electronic equipment which when electrically connected to the starter of any given pump or motor which will control the operation of the pump depending upon the liquid (water) level in the source and destination storage tanks. The project is about automation of the water motor system. The accompanying headings will give the detail outline of the project.  The world is moving on to the home automation system as from a simple room 12v LED to 220v refrigerator and so much more.Our main target/concern is with the common households, hospitals and other commercial areas where water is being used through the tanks. The main problem we  are facing in our society is manual controlling of the motor. When the tank is empty so the user has to manually turn ON the motor and wait for tank to fill to a specific point where the water can be used and the user time and electricity will be wasted if there is no water in the tank from where the water should be pumped to upper/main tank. This project work on a principle that the Arduino will take control over all of the scenario and the equipment attached to it. In initial stage the Arduino will sense the water level in the upper tank where the ultrasonic sensor is placed, in such a manner that it will calculate the distance between water and the ultrasonic sensor which then further will be displayed on LCD connected with the Arduino if the water level is below the required level it will indicate or send the signal to the Arduino to turn ON motor and supply water to the tank, while Arduino receives the signal it will not further circulate the signal to the relay until it checks the water in the reserve tank. If the water level meets the specific point mentioned in the Arduino code it will then proceed and send signal to Arduino to turn ON the motor, but if the water is not at a specific point or the reserve tank is empty the Arduino will receive the signal of NO water present in the tank and the user will get a notification on his/her cell phone. This system decreases unpredictability, expands well-being, is less expensive and Arduino based system guarantees precised result. Yet this product can be utilized in various fields. Petrol stations, chemical industry, water supply stations and anywhere if there is a specific motor for pumping the liquid.  

Project Objectives

The objectives are as below.

  • Our objective is to facilitate the local households, hospitals, commercial buildings with the complete water motor automated system.
  • Our system will provide better result.which will not only automate the water motor but will also reduce water wastage and inform the user time to time.
  • We are going to introduce our project in the market to take full advantage of this.

Project Implementation Method

This project will be implemented where as required. the method to implement this project is given below.

  1. Placing sensor: To calculate the amount of water present in the tank the sensor should be placed in the tank in such a way that it process the result of the tank preciesely.These sensor will be placed at the top of both of the tanks.These sensor will be attached to the arduino with the help of wires.
     
  2. GSM Module: This equipment will be placed with the Arduino in a water proof box which will send the text to the user about the water level in the tanks.
     
  3. Arduino: This can be called as the brain of the project which will control all of the operations through it. All of the equipment will be powered through arduino which it self will be connected through a 5v power supply.
     
  4. Relay: This equipment will act as a switch whcih will respond to the water level sent from the sensors to arduino and then arduino will further decide to turn on the motor or not if there is any need to turn ON the motor the arduino will send signal to the relay whcih will further turn ON the motor.
     
  5. Motor: The motor will be connected with the relay and 220vAC source of the local house hold or anywhere it is to be installed.

Benefits of the Project

There are water automation system world-wide either manual or aut but there is a need of proper trainer that would let the students or help them in such a way that they could compete in the industrial or real life concerned automation. So we are going to design such a system that would omatedmotivate and help the students to learn different things from our project and further use them. As in our province there water motors are almost controlled manually that consumes electricity and other issues.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This project will be delivered as a 2 piece/part product.

  • sensor x 2
  • Control Box
  • The one part would be the sensor whcih are to be placed in the tanks to sense the water level and will be connected via wires.
  • Second part will be the control box in which Arduino,GSM module,Relay,power supply all of these will be assembeled.

This product will be easy for a non-engineer to install on his/her behalf. Everything will be labeled for user's ease. The code for distance measurement will be also explained in the user manual to change the distance as the user wants.
