Automatic Petrol Pump System
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn this project we are going to build automated petrol pump system. With the help of this petrol pump system there is no need to put physical person for the distribution of petrol. This project will also explains a system which is capable of automatically deducing the dispensed amount of petrol from user card (i.e., RFID card) and that deduced amount information and remaining balance of the card is send to the costumers phone using GSM technology and even that deduced amount information is send to the web server using Wi-Fi technology. Here, we are maintaining each costumers petrol dispensed information on the web server which connects all the petrol stations under our surveillance. They can recharge the card from any authorized recharge point. The deduction of fuel from the pump for each individual will be automatic after scanning the RFID card and providing a unique password. Cost of fuel will be charged from the RFID card and at the same time, the user will be notified via GSM technology. All the information of transactions (e.g. refill amount, refill type, refill cost, current balance, previous balance, transaction time etc.) will be sent to a database through Wi-Fi technology. This petrol pump works with the IoT connectivity so that owner of Petrol pump will have overall control of this petrol station. Our motive is to create a website which will take the fuel price as input from the petrol pump and then our hardware installed at stations will act accordingly. Only admin can change the data and update it no user have the access to change or update the data. Also we are dealing with a secure and accurate transaction at petrol pump which has always been a major concern.

Project Implementation Method- The main idea is taken from the following paper (M.d. Badiuzzaman Pranto , M.d. Mahidur Rahman , Zunayeed-Bin-Zahir , “Vehicle Fuel Monitoring and Management using RFID authentication and Telematics Notification : An automated petrol refueling & notifying system”, International Conference on Advanced Computer Science and information Systems (ICACSIS), Oct 2019)
- In this paper we have studied the process and implementation of automatic petrol pump system
- The idea is taken from this paper
- This paper help us with block diagram
- This paper uses mobile app but we are not using any app
- All the components are interfacing with Arduino
- The only change we have made in the introduction of GSM module which will update the customers about remaining balance and the balance used.
- Wehave also studied some other research papers from which we will made changes and implement the final system:
- P. Gupta, S. Patodiya, D. Singh, J. Chhabra, A. Shukla, “IoT based smart petrol pump”, Fourth International Conference on Parallel, Distributed and Grid Computing (PDGC), Dec 2016
- Prof. R.B. Rathod, S. Patil, A. Gole, R. Navale, A. Patil, “Automatized IoT based E-Petrol Pump”, International Research Journal of Engineering and Technology (IRJET), Apr 2020
- From this paper we have detailed study on IOT.
- We have also studied the implementation of IOT in our project.
- With this help we will get able to interface our component save data on server and can send message to user.
- World is going towards automation, however, at our petrol pumps we are still using the old traditional system
- Current pump/fuel stations need human interactions for providing services to the customers. In most cases, the drivers and pump laborers are not honest. For example: “The owner may give the driver $10 to refill the car but the driver refills for $6 and keeps rest $4”. Till now, there is no method developed to monitor these kind of activities. This is one of the reasons we are planning the fuel monitoring system which is based on real-time notification and advanced automation based refueling stations.
- The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology can be helpful for the users because there would be no hassle to query for the fuel recording or payment system. Users/Vehicle owners can give the RFID card to his/her driver for refilling vehicle instead of giving cash money. Everything would be online based and machine-based real-time data transformation that means less human interactions. While the user is always using unique passcode there would be less chance of cheating.
