Considering these issues Automatic Indoor Air Decontamination System provides a solution for the studied issues that are addressed in relation to the described observations by analyzing the air quality and automatically decontaminating it, keeping in perspective the cost effectiveness of the system, the compactness, easy accessibility to obtained data on mobile application. Automatic indoor air decontamination system is capable of analyzing four major parameters in the environment including temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, and particulate matter which lie in the injurious range for human health i.e. particles with aerodynamic diameter ?10µm and ?0.3µm as these particles are breathable and are responsible for Asthma, Byssinosis, Chronic bronchitis, Pulmonary Diseases, Emphysema, etc. This system will include an air decontamination system on such a scale that it may be used in households and industries for health analyzing and maintaining the certain paremeter in indoor air. This system can also fit the requirements of an huge industry such as the textile industry which is also one of the main source of the concept of this project, if made on larger scale.
Project Objectives- To analyze the overall air quality (humidity and temperature).
- To analyze the index of particulate matter in the air with aerodynamic diameter ?10µm and ?0.3µm.
- To measure the index of CO2 in surrounding air.
- To automatically operate an air decontaminator based on obtained data.
- To devise an affordable and compact system.
- To devise a compatible mobile application for easy accessibility
- The controller is switched ON when supplied with adequate power through the dedicated power supply and power is supplied to the sensors as well.
- The sensors detect the level of PM 2.5, PM 10, Co2, Temperature, Humidity within their default range
- The obtained data is sent to the Arduino rev 3 controller.
- Based on the data, the controller switches the decontaminator which consists of a special material 3 layer filter ON and OFF accordingly.
- The data is transmitted to the display as well as the handset via an application designed specifically for this project.
Automatic Indoor Air Decontamination system will benefit the patients living in areas with high air pollution as this system will provide them with clean and safe indoor breathable air preventing numerous respiratory, cardiovascular diseases as well as cancer. It will be useful for the common citizens suffering from diseases such as: Chronic bronchitis, Asthma, Emphysema, Byssinosis, Cardiovascular diseases, Covid-19, and Cancer prevention considering the high index of air pollution specifically in Karachi and other industrial areas. It will also benefit the employees working in textile industry who are exposed to cotton dust. This system decontaminates air and reduces the index of cotton dust in the air i.e., particulate matter, thus providing a safe work environment and prevention from respiratory diseases
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- Taking in account the technical aspects of the project certain parameters can be discussed which include the principles upon which the sensors operate such as PM 2.5 which operates upon laser technology, temperature sensor, humidity sensors and Carbon Dioxide sensors.
- This system is suitable for small and medium-sized spaces, especially for enclosed office public environment Desktop and family Desktop
- Another technical aspect of the project that should be taken in account is the decontaminator which incorporates a special material three-layer filter which decontaminates the air from particulate matter, carbon dioxide, maintains the temperature as well as the humidity index.
- Mobile application will be utilized to display the overall working and data from the system as a whole.
