The proposed project is an Automatic attendance system based on facial recognition which is a Biometric Artificial Intelligence based application that can uniquely identify a person by analyzing patterns based on the person's facial textures and shape. This project can be used for security purposes and also to replace different biometric attendance systems which require physical contact to the sensors hence can not be used in this time of covid-19

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project is to create a attendance system which is fast and efficient and does not require a physical contact to any sensor as in this time of COVID-19 sensors can contain germs and can cause spread of the disease.

Project Implementation Method

This is an artificial inteligence based project and follows the traditional face recognition pipeline. A camera is used to capture video and each frame of video is passed through a face detection block in real time. Face detection returns cordinates of faces in the each frame these face are extracted and passed to a feature extraction block. For each face feature extraction block returns an array which represent facial features of that perticular face. These array are compared to a known data set in the classification block . Once a face is recognized attendace is marked in database

Benefits of the Project

Enhanced security:The first thing to start with is observation. With the help of face recognition, it will be easy to track down any burglars, thieves, or other trespassers.

Faster processing: The process of recognization takes very little time so it grants a quick and efficient verification of a person

Seamless integration: The facial recognition technology is quite easily integrated so it’s a perfect choice. It does not require spending additional money on its integration and facial recognition is compatible with the majority of security software.

Automation of identification: Facial recognition is completely independent in the identification process and not only takes seconds but is also incredibly accurate. This can be very usefull in times of COVID as it allows a compony or an institute to mark attendence without requirment of any physical contact to any sensor.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Our final deliverables contain a dataset containing facial fetaure data of students of Batch 6 of electrical and computer engineering department of COMSATS university Islamabad,Sahiwal campus.

And a Python implementation of Automatic Attendance System Based On Intelligent Face Recognition Scheme which takes a real time video as an input an mark attendace of all the persons in the video.

We will deploy the proposed prototype in the arena of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, CUI Sahiwal.
