The usual comment basket at other related supermarkets/ hypermarkets is mainly used to store goods in the basket after shopping. But the real situation that is faced by the customers is hardly to estimate the correct total amount to pay at the cashier counter. By having this new smart basket, it shows the actual amount to be paid by the customers after any price deduction (discounted price). Customers will know the exact amount to pay, before reach the cashier counter.

Project Objectives
  1. Proposed this idea to be used in shopping malls in order to reduce the billing time at the cashier counter especially during peak hours.
  2. It helps customers to ease customers while shopping with family members.
  3. It can be used anywhere like shopping markets where the barcodes are used to good solution which avoids barcode technology.
Project Implementation Method

Each shopping cart is implemented with a Product Identification Device (PID) that contains a microcontroller, an LCD, RFID reader and a transmitter. RFID reader will read the purchasing product information on the shopping cart and the information about the product is displayed on LCD which is interfaced to the microcontroller. At the billing counter, the total bill will be transferred to PC at the counter side by using module.

Benefits of the Project

Though shopping in malls gives the benefit of saving time. People have job so they do not have much time. They get free time on holiday. In holidays and special offers the huge crowed in malls. People enter in the mall every person takes product put into trolley. After the shopping is done that person have to stand in the queue for billing. In the billing process a sell person scan barcode of each and every product and gives final bill

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Software Details:  

  1. Cashier’s Screen: When we turn on the system authority provided by option that is login, upon successful login the cashier can see the dashboard in which he can see all the trollies with their respected serial numbers and the products which are in those trollies on clicking a trolley.
  2. Trolley Screen: The user will use this screen. It will have up down arrow keys and “add”, “delete” buttons. The add button will be used if a user has purchased a single product multiple times then the user can scan it once and enter the number of times, he has purchased that product. The delete button will remove a product from the list.
