Automated Aquaponics System
Aquaponics is termed as a process in which fish farming and soilless vegetation (hydroponics) are combined in such a way that the waste produced by amphibious animals, which contains essential nutrients for the plants are provided to plants by using water as a medium. Currently the world is in great demand of the organic food and traditional farming is not capable to meet the requirement organic food as it requires lot of land, water and suitable environmental parameters. Considering, this approach will require less land and the water will be continuously recycled so it will also use less water. The manual monitoring of the system will be very time consuming and inefficient which can be countered by using a system made up by using arduino based microcontroller. This may extensively lessen the human intervention in the approach and efficiency of the system will be increased to maximum extent. By adding modern technology a sustainable system will be developed which can be planted in densely populated areas where there is shortage of water and land due to which they are not capable to produce organic food using traditional methods. The system proposed here will be compatible to monitor the system by using different devices and sensors. The data collected from sensor will be accessed automatically by arduino.
The objective our project is to improve aquaponics so it is affordable to the masses, especially those in food deserts and homeless veterans. Even though aquaculture and hydroponics are mature and profitable industries, aquaponics is not yet widespread. We think that aquaponics is ready to break through its glass ceiling and become more widespread.

Aquaponics has been considered as having great potential as an organic production method of aquatic organisms and vegetables, because the nutrient-rich water from aquatic organisms is utilized for plant growth. The essential elements of an aquaponic system consist of the following five: a tank to maintain aquatic organisms; a clarifier or sedimentation; a biofilter; a hydroponic component; and a sump pump. In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of a flood and raft technique of aquaponic system. The proposed aquaponic system will work efficiently during the entire crop cycle without any problems or deficiencies from lack sump. No changes are required in the flow of water in the aquaponic system during the growing season. Tilapia survival is supposed to be 97.2 ± 2.4 %. Specific growth and food conversion ratios mighty vary a bit from 4.95 and 0.99, respectively.
