With the arrival of modern graphics and computing hardware and cheaper HMD technologies, virtual reality abd augmented reality are becoming more and more common in the fields of teching, gaming, Medical, training and visualization etc. The goal of this proposal is to design and implement a functional, general purpose augmented reality engine using abstract interfaces for much of the hardware components involved to allow for easy extensibility for the developer as well as for class room hands on teaching.
What if you could interact with your CAD model? You sit all daytime at a desk designing a virtual model to be as close as possible to its physical counterpart and sometimes you will may never understand how the part will fix once installed. Augmented and Virtual Reality technology provides to the engineering field the possibility for seamless visualization of physiological data.
Using HTC VIVE (VR Device), It is aim to provide most immersive method of step by step training to fix an Engine of a car. The feeling of reality is what makes learning through VR so effective. And this leads to better performance.
The Project aims to lower the cost of education and training. Moreover, the application has enhanced effectiveness of Class room education and training. The sysytem will be support mobile app also.
Using this system students/ Customer will be able to learn step by step training to fix an Engine of a car or similar items e.g Engine of a Generator. He will be focused and separate any individual parts of the Engine. With a single tape in required direction they can highlight, select and grab the objects. I think we able to visualize in 3D as so much move then any text book refer.
The sysytem will be used for class room teaching which will give experience as hands on training to the Mechenical or Automobile Engineering students.
The current target (we have) is limited to a car`s engine,However, similar models can be designed for other Engineering aspects for example Electric circuits, Mechenical devices etc.
Same technology can aslo be applied in the medical Domain like medical education and training.
As technology developments, mobile devices have progressively turned into wearable devices, and Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality as well as Mixed Reality have been useful more and more broadly. VR, AR and MR are applied in the medical Domain like medical education and training.
Inorder to implement this project we are currently using an emulator known as Vuforia on our mobile devices, but as it seems its just a pass-by method. Inorder to be able to create a perfect VR canvas we are going to need Oculus Rift + Touch. (Ref: https://www.tejar.pk/oculus-rift-touch .)
Vuforia is a Software Development Kit (SDK) for creating AR apps. It uses Computer Vision to track images and 3D objects in real time. This allows putting virtual 3D objects in relation to real-world objects at the camera screen.
Unity provides Interactive objects , UI, animations, and C# scripting for AR application.
Using Unity engine we are animating 3D model of different components of computer to show their assembling in PC and for scripts we have used visual studio.
we want to take this project in virtual reality , because VR will provide a great learning experience for students. But for VR we need HTC VIVE , The HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset the headset uses room scale tracking technology, allowing the user to move in 3D space and use motion-tracked handheld controllers to interact with the environment.
The interactive models provided students access to increased and improved learning activities. These models enhance and improve educational and learning interactive activities for students and student can learn the internal architecture of Mechanical parts of a car engine by visualizing in 3d. They can interact with computer hardware without even opening the real parts of a car engine. The students may have the incomparable experience by using VR headset htc vive and they can view and assemble components Mechanical parts of a car engine like never before.
Talking about the benefits, lets start with ourselves. We will get a closure in making an AR project. Furthermore, it will enhance our chance to get jobs as it will surely raise a question mark in the eye of the interviewer when they ask regarding the equipment we used in our project.
The project that we will make here will surely be used for educational purposes as it has the ability to tear down and the reconstruct parts of the engine, Oculus Rift + Touch will surely come in handy here.
