Government spend huge amount of money on road maintenance and repair. However, If these potholes are not repaired at early stages then it could be a major cause of road accidents, casualties, and vehicles breakage. To address the problem of pothole detection and reporting it to the concerned authorities, we will propose an android-based solution. Our proposed solution will not only detect the potholes on the road, but will also report it to the government agency for taking necessary actions. Our proposed solution will make use of smart phones devices to achieve the objectives.

In our Project the user is required to carry a smartphone in order to monitor road surface, providing that there is any problem relevant to the road stability such as pothole or dig. Then they will convey this information to the concerned authorities, e.,g Peshawar Development Authority (PDA). For tracking location of the pothole, we will use Google maps and GPS coordinates.

Project Objectives

The main objective of our project is to develop an Android-based application for pothole detection and reporting. Hence, our prime focus is to develop an efficient application to detect and report potholes

Project Implementation Method

Our project will detect the potholes on the road, and then it will be reported to the government agency for taking necessary actions. Our proposed solution will make use of smart phones devices to achieve the objectives.

Similarly, for testing purpose, we will need to carry the smart phone and drive on road in a vehicle. Hence to check the accuracy of the application, we will need to perform some real experiments on
roads.
