Reason for the Project

Currently, various websites and social platforms are used for the university's communication purposes. Also, the administration tasks are done on a quite traditional desktop application and the transport and hostel facility's administration is completely manual. The major reason behind this project is to create a single and unified platform for our university which meets the latest technology requirements.

About the Project

In this project, we are making an Android + iOS mobile application and a website. The mobile application will handle all communication requirements of the university's individuals whereas, the website will handle mostly all administrative tasks of our univerisity.

The mobile application will be used by the university's students, teachers, transport facility drivers and hostel managers.

The website will be used by all administrators of the university which are as follows:

• Department Coordinators
• Finance Administrators
• Registration Administrators
• Exam Administrators
• Student Affairs Administrators
• Human Resource Administrators
• Hostel and Transport Administrators

Project Objectives

Following, are the list of this project's objectives: 

• To notify students of their academic/financial deadlines including timetable, date sheet and attendance notifications.
• To notify the associated people of any event/trip.
• To help individuals in communicating with other people in the university.
• To organize all the univerity's social needs in a single place.
• To keep everyone up to date with all news in the university.
• To make it easy for individuals to discover people of their university.
• To help students know when their teacher's are available.
• To make it easy to use transport and hostel facilities.
• To provide the university map, in order to locate vacant and occupied rooms.
• To make the university easily accessible by its individuals.
• To aid all administrators with their work.

Project Implementation Method

For the mobile Application, we are using:

• React Native for the front-end/interfaces design.
• DJango framework for the back-end.
• Android Studio to test and run the Android application.
• An IOS device to test and run the iOS application.

For the website, we are using:

• Boostrap for front-end design.
• DJango framework for the back-end.
• ReactJs library.
• Google Chrome to run and test the application.

We will have one database for both the mobile application and website which is on PostgreSql.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The website will run on all latest browser versions including Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, etc.

The mobile application will work on iOS versions 9.0 or newer and on Android versions 4.1 (API 16) or newer.
