Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject Summary- Literature review of image processing techniques for electron tomogram, and identifying gaps in literature.
- Organise publicly available tomograms as testing/validation data.
- Selection of existing de-noising tools,
- Selection of edge detectors.
- Selection of segmentation tools.
- Application of above selected tools on 3D tomograms collected at point (2).
- 3D analysis of results achieved in (6).
- Statistical analysis of comparative study done at (7).
- Selection of best edge detector to recover high resolution information from tomograms.
- Initiate the development of 3D visualization to determine the accuracy of extracted information.
- Future Direction: Testing and cross-validation.

Project Implementation Methodwe intend to propose, develop and evaluate the image processing and segmentation tools to understand the detailed information from electron tomograms.

Collectively this work aims to help Biologists/Scientist understand their research questions related to their biological sampless. Our computer aided techniques/methods woudl assisst biologists to determine the structure of cells, organelles and macromolecules to answer their research related questions.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableAs this is a research based project, we aim to show present our results in the form of images, and validate them using statistical some statistical techniques. At the end we will present a script containing the whole procesude inclusding denoising, edge detection and segmentation.
