SYSTEM TEST REPORT FOR JOB PORTAL
Section Wise Errors / Defects
Personal Information:
- User Profile Picture Place Holder doesn’t have any Icon + Sample Picture which leaves a bad impact.
- While selecting an image, if we have selected a wrong picture, there should be an option to clear the current selected image instead of only replacement of that picture.
- While Uploading an Image, user can upload any file type instead of only image. It can lead to security issue that user may upload any virus which may affect the server and a script file which may create a loophole in the system. (I tried to upload .docx file).
- In Birth District and Domicile select box, there are so many options. So, it is difficult to find desired option.
- Form controls are not in the same style and alignment which makes the interface less attractive.
Contact Information:
- Email Address Field is set required. It is a good practice to bound the user to provide email address as user can not step forward without providing email address. But it also creates a problem for user to go step back to the Personal Information Section.
- Email Address Field accepts any data which may lead errors due to invalid data entry in the system. Input type for Email Address should be email (type= “email”) to restrict the user to enter only email.
Academic Information:
- While adding qualification, system should calculate percentage by itself as if a user put its actual marks (like 700/1000) but enters a wrong percentage (like 90%) then it is accepted by system. On the administration side if we want to call applicants having percentage more than 80, then such applicant will also b called having less marks.
- In Add New Qualification, Option for Supply is Missing in Annual/Supply select box.
- While deleting the qualification, if a user has two or more than two degrees (like MA and MSc) or a single degree in two more than two different subjects (like MA Urdu, MA Islamiat), user have to select Certificate/Degree in the dialogue box to delete. It will delete all records relating that degree. As system deletes records by Certificate/Degree. System should delete records by Record Id instead of Certificate/Degree name to ensure the deletion of a particular record.
- Process to delete Record(s) is pretty much difficult. There should be delete action button at the end of each record.
- Edit Qualification option is missing which increases the user’s efforts as if a user made a mistake then he/she must have to delete the record and add it again. There should be a facility to edit and update an existing record to save time and efforts.
Honors/Awards:
- While adding new Distinction, the field of Sr. No does not specify any meaning and record is added if we don’t give any value to Sr. No. It also accepts any type of value e.g. numeric, string etc.
- In Add New Distinction, if a user submit form without providing data, system does not restrict user to submit empty form. For validation should be done to leave a good and impressive impact on users.
- In delete Distinction form, Label for first select box is not valid as it is “Distinction Sr” but the select box is for Distinction Type. Label and Control should be corrected accordingly.
- In delete Distinction form, Label for second control which is a text box, is not valid as it is “Distinction Type” but the text box is for Distinction Detail. Label and Control should be corrected accordingly.
- To delete an Award, there is no form validation as if user does not provide any Distinction Detail, the first record will be deleted.
- If a user has two or more Awards having same type and details but awarded on different dates and by different persons, to delete a record in such situation it is impossible to deleting a particular record. It deletes only one record based on Distinction Type and Details instead of Record Id.
- Process to delete Record(s) is pretty much difficult. There should be delete action button at the end of each record to provide an ease to user.
Research Work:
- While adding New Publication Details, user can put a single character in Title and Author field which should be restrict to a valid minimum length.
- Delete research option does not work.
Project Info:
- Add Project option does not work. Record does not save.
Employment Info:
- In Remove Employment Details, label “Employment Sr” is not suitable and wrong for the select box. It should be Designation.
- Whenever we enter a new record after first one. Form have some previous data by default. Which is time consuming to clear the form manual.
- While deleting the record, it does not delete specified record. It only deletes the first record in the list.
Job/Post Selection:
- Page refresh on selecting Job Advertisement and Title as Advertisement, Title and Criteria are depending on each other so these fields should be update using AJAX to eliminate such issue and make the procedure easier time saving.
- We cannot go back or sign out as some required fields prevent submission of form to go back or sign out.
- User can submit form without putting deposit details (Draft No, Bank Name).
- Application is submitted as I didn’t upload my picture. I just uploaded .docx file but system considered it as picture is uploaded by the user.
Application Form:
- Age calculation is invalid and age mentioned in the application form is incorrect.
- System failed to generate application file just because of invalid file type uploaded as user’s profile picture. It can be checked on the following url: http://121.52.149.149:8889/reports/rwservlet?uoh&server=repserveras&report=R02_JOB_APPLICATION.rdf&enc_param=EBD21434EC72EF3FE5355CF5EFFCA31F01
Remarks / Suggestions:
- Efforts should be made for better design and good color scheme should be used especially font color should be changed as it is very light and user may feel tired.
- Proper form validation should be done to ensure the integrity of data a data validation check should be on the server side to reduce the risk as user can override the validation rule on the client side.
- In select boxes having a large number of options, there should be a search box to locate and search the desired option easily.
- Style like height, width and padding etc. for input controls should be same to leave a good impact regarding design and make more user friendly.
- Labels for controls should be correct and meaningful.
